Call of Duty ‘Black Hops’ beer launched

An Australian brewer has launched a beer to coincide with the release of cult game Call of Duty: Black Ops III called “Black Hops”.

Available exclusively in Australia and brewed by Black Hops Brewing, the pale ale launched on 2 November ahead of the game’s release on 6 November.

Described as “crisp, light and refreshing with tantalising hop aromas of pine and citrus fruit”, Black Hops Midnight Pale Ale was crafted by Black Hops Brewing, founded last year by Michael McGovern, Eddie Oldfield and Dan Norris. The Gold Coast trio used a specialty roasted wheat to impart a deep rich black colour, essentially painting a pale ale black.

Founded on the 2 November, 2014, Black Hops Brewing’s partnership with Call of Duty: Black Ops III marks its one year anniversary.

Black Hops is available exclusively in Australia in limited quantities with a six-pack available for AUS$25 or a carton of 24 for $75 via Beer Bud.

In keeping with a trend for computer games and beer tie-ups, last month Carlsberg revealed a forthcoming beer to coincide with the launch of Fallout 4.
