Cask Trade teams up with Siobhan Mackenzie for tartan launch
Whisky cask marketplace Cask Trade has partnered with Scottish fashion designer Siobhan Mackenzie to launch its own registered tartan, which debuts on a limited-edition single cask bottling from Nc’nean. A percentage of profits will be donated to The Drinks Trust.

Cask Trade has launched its own registered tartan through a collaboration with Scottish fashion designer Siobhan Mackenzie, with the design making its debut on a limited-edition single cask whisky from Nc’nean Distillery.
The cask whisky marketplace said the partnership aims to celebrate Scottish craftsmanship while highlighting the contribution of women working across traditional industries. The Cask Trade Tartan has been lodged with the Scottish Register of Tartans and appears on the label of an exclusive 8-year-old single cask bottling from Nc’nean.
The release comprises 306 bottles of single malt Scotch whisky drawn from an STR (Shaved, Toasted and Re-charred) red wine cask distilled in 2018 and bottled at 54.5% ABV. The whisky will retail at £65, with a percentage of profits donated to The Drinks Trust.
Myriam Mackenzie of Cask Trade said: “Unveiling the Cask Trade Tartan on a whisky bottle feels like a natural fit, but the project represents something bigger than tartan or packaging. For us, it is about showing that Scottish heritage is a living tradition, shaped by collaboration, creativity and the people carrying it forward today.”
Bringing together whisky and fashion
Designed exclusively for the collaboration, the tartan draws its colour palette from Cask Trade’s branding, with deep purple and gold as the dominant colours. The company’s founding year, 2018, is incorporated into the tartan through its thread count.
For Siobhan Mackenzie, the project also marks her first whisky bottle design.

She said: “For me, there’s a lot of synergy between my brand and what Cask Trade is doing. It’s something different and innovative within a very traditional industry, and I really like that alignment. I felt it was a great fit for my brand to work with Cask Trade, particularly as this is my first whisky bottle design.
“When I take on these kinds of projects, it has to be with the right partner, the right kind of design, and importantly, the right sentiment. I’m really happy with this collaboration and how all of these elements have come together.”
Single cask release
Cask Trade selected the Nc’nean whisky to showcase the new tartan. The company described the liquid as having a “fruity and inviting nose, balanced spicy and sweet palate, and soft note of oak”.
Founded in 2017 by Annabel Thomas on Scotland’s Morvern Peninsula, Nc’nean describes itself as Scotland’s first 100% organic whisky distillery. The distillery is verified net zero for scopes 1 and 2 and is B Corp certified.
Annabel Thomas said: “I’m honoured that Nc’nean whisky was chosen to showcase this beautiful tartan and that we can together highlight the importance of the continued evolution of crafts deeply rooted in Scottish history.”
The limited-edition bottling launched on 25 June 2026 and will not be repeated.
