Matthew Clark brings back flash Black Friday deals

Wholesaler Matthew Clark has brought back its online-only Black Friday flash sale after seeing orders more than treble in last year’s event.

The on-trade drinks supplier saw orders rise 350% during its Black Friday offer last year, it said and is set to repeat the event this year on November 23rd.

The deals are available to customers who are registered for the company’s online shopping platform, Matthew Clarke Live, with discounts on brands including Absolut, Belvedere, Bombay Sapphire, Disaronno, Peroni, Red Bull and Tanqueray.

Commercial Director Steve Jebson said the deals would be based on the best-selling Christmas collection with featured additional Black Friday exclusive deals layered on top.

“We know our customers are looking for great value deals to improve their profitability over the Christmas trading period and last year saw over a 350% increase in orders placed online on Black Friday, so we’re excited to be running this promotion again,” he said.

Matthew Clark was bought by British drinks producer C&C Group following the collapse of Conviviality in April  along with Bibendum PLB. The parent company recently released its half yearly report showing the newly acquired businesses had stabilised, with Matthew Clark Wholesale generated a EBIT of €6.8m (£6.0m) for the period and achieving its operational KPIs.

The on-trade wholesaler also announced it had restructured and bolstered its wine buying team following its acquisition by C&C earlier this year.
