Vintae signs restructuring deal to secure future of Bodegas Riojanas
Rioja-based wine company Vintae has announced a restructuring agreement with financial institutions aimed at safeguarding the future of historic winery Bodegas Riojanas.

The deal, confirmed on 18 May, is designed to preserve one of Rioja’s oldest and most recognised wine producers amid broader uncertainty facing the region’s wine industry.
Founded more than a century ago, Bodegas Riojanas is known for brands including Viña Albina, Monte Real and Puerta Vieja, which are all associated with the rise of Rioja wines on a global stage.
Vintae was founded in La Rioja in the late 1990s by entrepreneur José Miguel Arambarri. Leadership later passed to Richi Arambarri, who has overseen the company’s expansion.
Richi Arambarri, who is now CEO and founder of Vintae, said the company saw the move as a commitment to protecting Rioja’s heritage.

“Rioja is going through a period of transformation and uncertainty, but we are fully aware of the historical importance of a century-old winery group such as Bodegas Riojanas, one of the founding names of Rioja, with renowned brands that helped place the region on the international wine map,” he said.
Commitment to land and people
Arambarri described the agreement as “a commitment to our land” and said preserving the winery’s legacy was a responsibility shared by both local people and winemakers.
Vintae, based in the Spanish wine region of La Rioja, has built a reputation over the past two decades for developing modern and internationally focused wine brands. Its portfolio includes Hacienda López de Haro, Viñedos El Pacto, Matsu, Bardos, Le Naturel and Pandemonium.
Arambarri said integrating Bodegas Riojanas into the Vintae business would be “a demanding but deeply exciting journey”.
