Bordeaux 2025 en primeur: Médoc best of the rest

db Bordeaux correspondent Colin Hay wraps up his review of the Médoc’s en primeur offerings by selecting some of the stars from Left Bank satellite appellations.

Château La Lagune

I conclude my review of the Left Bank in this fascinating, complex but ultimately extremely rewarding vintage with a selection of wines from the appellations of Haut-Médoc, Listrac-Médoc, Médoc and Moulis-en-Médoc.

The stars here are, perhaps unremarkably, the impressive duo of Haut-Médoc classed growths that are La Lagune and Cantemerle; their revivified competitors, Belgrave and notably the best wine produced at La Tour Carnet that I have ever tasted; and the now habitual stars of Moulis, Branas Grand Poujeaux, and of the northern Médoc, G d’Estournel.

In the days to come I will return to Bordeaux for a tasting of a selection of en primeur samples from the wines of the cru bourgeois classification. These I will write up separately and add to the tasting notes database.
