A full English breakfast-inspired HP Sauce beer now exists

Camden Town Brewery has teamed up with HP Sauce to launch a full English-inspired beer named Camden HP Brown Ale.

The move, which sees the AB InBev-owned brewery collaborating with HP Sauce brand owner Kraft Heinz, sees the union of two British staples that have been enjoyed over dinner tables and local pubs for centuries.

Instead of adding HP sauce directly into the beer, the brewing team used the ingredients and flavours of HP and added lots of aromatic malt, date puree and Mosaic hops into the brew to create what it calls “an unexpected take on a British classic”. While creating the beer, the brewing team also added some of the sauce’s signature spices to the beer for a subtle peppery and clove background and a hybrid fermentation with a sour ale strain to give the beer a “tangy” note.

Speaking about the launch, Camden Town Brewery head of marketing Fred Nesbitt said: ‘What are two things that us Brits love? Beer and sauce. Lager or ale, red or brown – we also love a debate. These debates are quintessentially British, and span across generations so we have teamed up with HP to brew a beer which we hope is a sauce for conversation between you and your nan, or just your mates. Enjoy.”

HP Sauce marketing manager Georgina Fotopoulou added: ‘Here at HP we are so excited to be working with Camden Town Brewery on this brilliant partnership. For generations people have been enjoying HP over the dinner table and now they get to enjoy the intense and rich flavour in one of their favourite drinks – beer – and the result is delicious. We hope our HP fans will love this as much as they love our sauce!’

Camden HP Brown Ale will weigh in at 4% ABV and is available to order now for a limited time only in 330ml bottles. Consumers can buy the beers for £15 for a four-pack of Camden HP Brown Ale with a Camden Town Edition HP Sauce via the Camden webshop.
