Invivo Air to take flight in January 2023
Tickets go on sale tomorrow for a wine experience that will take place at 18,000 ft on the world’s first winery airline during January.
After announcing the launch of the world’s first winery airline earlier this year, Invivo Air will be open for bookings as of tomorrow, for a one-of-a-kind wine experience to take place in the sky in January 2023.
Claiming to offer “the ultimate wine experience at altitude”, the charter flight by New Zealand wine company Invivo will travel from Auckland in New Zealand’s north island to Queenstown in its south island, and will offer guests a whistlestop vineyard tour and lavish winemakers’ dinner as well as an overnight stay at the five-star Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa.
A limited number of tickets priced at NZ$1,149 per person (US$660) will be available to buy from Invivoair.com on Thursday 15 December (UK/EST) and Friday 16 December (NZT).
Departing from Auckland airport at 12:00pm on 31 January 2023, guests will board the Invivo Air Saab 340 plane and enjoy a guided eight-step wine-tasting at 18,000ft, led by company co-founders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron.
The tasting will be paired with local New Zealand snacks with pours from the Invivo range including Invivo, Graham Norton wines and Invivo X, SJP wines. A range of low and no-alcohol options will also be on offer.
Upon arrival in Queenstown, guests will be transported to ‘Legend’s Terrace’ – one of Invivo’s oldest vineyards in Central Otago – for a tour and tasting, overlooking the sweeping views of Bannockburn and Felton Road wine regions.
In the evening, attendees will enjoy a lavish winemakers’ dinner at Botswana Butchery in central Queenstown, with a four-course meal featuring local produce including Bluff Oysters, matched with Invivo wines.
Guests will then stay overnight in lake-side rooms at the Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa on the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
“Invivo Air is the world’s first winery airline and we’re looking forward to guiding our guests through the ultimate wine lover’s experience – both at 18,000ft in our winery in the sky and also on terra firma at one of our beautiful Central Otago vineyards,” said Rob Cameron.
“We’re thrilled to open Invivo Air to the public and deliver a truly unique experience for those that come on board. We’ll be tasting some stunning drops in some truly epic locations.”
Invivo will be offsetting carbon emissions on behalf of every guest on the trip.
