Grand Calcaire Chablis is now available in Hong Kong

Hong Kong biggest wine importer Watson’s Wine brings Chablis wine brand Grand Calcaire to Hong Kong and Macau this summer.

Watson’s Wine is now the official importer and distributor of Grand Calcaire in Hong Kong and Macau. Aiming to give a “contemporary interpretation of the fine wines from Chablis”, Grand Calcaire is owned by Laurent Delaunay and Dominique Gruhier, cousins and fifth generation of the Delaunay family, which has been a negociant and producer in the Côte d’Or region, Burgundy since 1893.

Both Delaunay, who is also president of French wine group Badet Clément, and Gruhier, one of the iconic promoters of organic, biodynamic and sustainable viticulture in the Chablis region, have comprehensive experience and knowledge of the Burgundy terroir.

Launched in 2021, their vision for starting Grand Calcaire was to create a premium international Chablis wine brand that is contemporary and elegant and which expresses the qualities of minerality, purity and the cool terroirs.

Using the best vineyard plots, the grapes are picked from shaded north-facing plots as well as from the misty slopes with Kimmeridgian clay-limestone marl soil. According to the winemaking pair, Grand Calcaire wines are often defined by “good acidity, tension and mineral character, with a freshness which illustrates the northern terroir, and also expressive, aromatic wines with complexity”.

The range is built on three levels; Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru and Chablis Grand Cru. Currently available are Chablis 2019 and Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2019 with an RRP of HK$198 and HK$398 respectively.
