Year of the Tiger sees interest grow in 2010 Bordeaux
The Year of the Tiger has prompted renewed interest in 2010 Bordeaux from Asia – the last vintage that was under the tiger – according to Liv-ex.
The critically acclaimed 2010 vintage accounted for around 13.13% the value of Bordeaux’s trade in Asia – a rise from 11% last year, or 9.6%, five years ago. The vintage was originally released at record-breaking prices back in 2011, shortly before the market for Bordeaux started to fall. The subsequent fall in price has made the 2010 vintage more attractive in recent year, Liv-ex suggest – especially now that they are ready for drinking.
Drilling down, the most traded Bordeaux 2010s in Asia include the Château Cheval Blanc (despite being the château’s most expensive vintage in the last last fifteen years), Château Clinet, the second wines of Château Lafite and Mouton Rothschild and Carruades de Lafite 2010.
Pomerol’s Château Pétrus 2010 vintage also saw an increase in demand, rising 30.7% and becoming one of Bordeaux’s top performers.
