Jack Whitehall to launch Food Slut pop-up in London

British comedian Jack Whitehall is to launch a pop-up showcasing dishes from his popular Food Slut blog at Provisioners restaurant in Tower Bridge.

As reported by The Handbook, Whitehall’s Food Slut Instagram feed, which champions carb heavy comfort food, has proved so popular that he was offered the chance to share his decadent dishes with the public.

The Food Slut feed, which has over 83,000 followers, is run by Whitehall, his brother Barney and actor Marcus Petty-Saphon.

Their pop-up at Provisioners, housed within boutique hotel The Dixon, will run from 25 September until 18 October on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Among the dishes on offer will be the slutty burger, which features ​a double patty of dry-aged beef with brown butter baconnaise, pickles, crispy onions, shredded lettuce and maple ketchup served with truffle fries.

Also on the menu will be the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, comprised of a ​fried chicken breast coated in ‘slutty secret recipe’ spices served on thick white bread with pickles, shredded lettuce and slaw.

Vegans will be able to get their lips around Korean-style cauliflower bites ​ ​smothered in a gochujang sauce served with sesame seeds and spring onions.

Diners with a sweet tooth will enjoy tucking into the pop-up’s peanut butter cheesecake with hot chocolate sauce and raspberry ripple ice cream.

As reported by The Handbook, the dishes are the brainchild of Food Slut’s chef, Thom Bateman.

“There’s something quite fun about the fact we’ll be serving a menu that pushes the boundaries of culinary decency in a restaurant on the site of an old Magistrate’s Court and police station,” Whitehall told The Handbook.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what the public thinks of our food,” he added. Showcasing “slutty foods for those who like to slut it up”, Whitehall launched Food Slut during lockdown. “Remember, there is no dish that adding bacon won’t improve”, the blog advises.
