Ryan Reynolds donates 30% of Aviation Gin’s UK profits to The Drinks Trust

Hollywood hunk and general do-gooder Ryan Reynolds will be donating 30% of the profits from UK sales of his Aviation Gin to industry charity The Drinks Trust.

Extending his #TipYourBartenders initiative to the UK to support British bartenders through the coronavirus crisis, the scheme will run until 31 May.

It will see 30% of proceeds from bottles of Aviation Gin sold online via UK distributor Proof Drinks and The Whisky Exchange donated to The Drinks Trust.

“The UK is not only home to the world’s most discerning gin drinkers, but also the ‘gintenders’ themselves. In an effort to support the bartenders we know and love, we will be donating a tip for every bottle purchased online to support the invaluable work The Drinks Trust continues to do,” Reynolds said.

Formerly known as The Benevolent, The Drinks Trust is currently raising funds to provide financial support for industry workers affected by the crisis.

“We are receiving unprecedented demand for our services at this time. The financial concerns caused by loss of work can seriously impact an individual’s mental health and we’re working with experts in both HR and wellbeing to help give advice to all members of the on trade.

“We’re grateful to Aviation Gin for its support during this tough period for our industry,” said Ross Carter, CEO of The Drinks Trust.

Aviation Gin is priced at £29.99 for a 70cl bottle. For more information on the initiative, click here.

Reynolds has a similar initiative in place in the US, in which 30% of proceeds from online sales of Aviation Gin are donated to the United States Bartenders Guild.

The USBG has a Covid-19 relief fund for the American bartending community for all mixologists affected by reduced hours or job loss due to coronavirus.
