Italy’s Pendium sparkling wine brand extended to Pinot Grigio

Italy’s Pendium sparkling wine line has been extended to include a Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC, bringing the brand’s distinctive diamond-cut bottle to still white wine.

Coming soon to Asda supermarkets in the UK will be the new, distinctively packaged addition to the Pendium range, which currently comprises a Prosecco DOC, a Sparkling Rosé and a Moscato Sparkling.

The new product is notable for bringing Italian sparkling wine cues to still wine, and should also bring more attention to Italy’s new classification: Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC.

Created in 2017, the DOC covers the Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto regions, and permits the use of Chardonnay, Friulano, Garganega, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Verduzzo.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the producer of the Pendium range of wines, which is Enoitalia, told db that it was business as usual for the wine maker despite the intensity of the coronavirus pandemic in this part of northern Italy.

“Our production facilities have continued to operate. We have closely monitored the development of the coronavirus outbreak and have put into effect all measures to guarantee the continuity and orderly conduct of business. We activated smart working for all those employees who can work remotely.
