Beckham’s Haig Club named whisky of Inter Miami

Haig Club Clubman, the single grain Scotch co-owned by David Beckham and Diageo, has been named as the official whisky of football club Inter Miami.

David Beckham’s Haig Club Clubman has become the official whisky of Inter Miami

Major League Soccer’s newest club, Inter Miami is part-owned by Beckham. The team is due to play its first match against LAFC on Sunday.

Designed to appeal to a broad consumer base, including millennials, Haig Club Clubman is matured in ex-Bourbon casks, giving it a “smooth, sweet taste” that’s more approachable than many of the Scotch whiskies on the market.

The single grain Scotch works well in cocktails

Made at Cameronbridge distillery in Fife, the largest and oldest grain distillery in Europe, Haig Club Clubman boasts flavours of vanilla, butterscotch and toffee, and can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or with soda and a slice of orange.

“I’m so excited that Haig Club is launching in Miami. The city is like a second home that has welcomed me with open arms – the energy and the people are amazing.

“Launching Inter Miami CF this year is a proud moment for me and to have Haig Club be a part of that is really special. I can’t wait to see people enjoying Haig Club in Miami,” Beckham said.

Formally known as Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami, Inter Miami CF represents South Florida and has a fan base in Miami-Dade, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach.

Haig Club and Inter Miami CF will officially kick off their partnership on 14 March  when Inter Miami takes on the LA Galaxy at its Fort Lauderdale stadium.

Haig Club Clubman cocktails, including one that mixes the whisky with orange and soda, will be on sale to fans over 21 at the stadium throughout the football season.

“Haig Club Clubman has quickly become one of the most talked about whiskies globally, and has put single grain whisky back on the map,” said Jamie Young, director of single malts and Haig Club at Diageo North America.

“It is only fitting that it has arrived in Miami, one of the most vibrant cities in the US renowned for its restaurant and bar culture. We’re excited to introduce this whisky, perfect for mixing in cocktails, that will help redefine the rules of Scotch,”Young added.

Cameronbridge distillery recycles all the by-products from the distillation process to produce nearly enough power to run the entire distillery.
