the drinks business launches new look mag for 2020

As we enter a new decade, the drinks business has made a number of changes to its format this year, including a new column, themed issues and focuses on emerging wine regions.

Our April issue will include a focus on volcanic wines

The February issue will see the launch of a ‘db thinks’ column, where each month a different member of the editorial team will have their say on a topical issue affecting the trade.

In February we will publish The Master Winemaker 100 report

The same month we will publish ‘The Master Winemaker 100’ report, shining a light on the personalities behind the most successful wines in our Global Masters series.

This year will also see the introduction of a number of themed issues, following on from the success of our January ‘green’ issue, including an ‘ethical’ issue in July, which will include features on organic wine, vegan wine and an article exploring the latest developments in eco-friendly drinks packaging.

Due to appear at The London Wine Fair, our May issue will include two supplements – our annual Champagne report and the 2020 edition of our Wine List Confidentialguide, which ranks the best restaurants for wine in London, assessing everything from value, size and originality to service.

Our June issue will have a special focus on France, and will explore the latest developments in Bordeaux, Beaujolais and beyond. The same issue will include our first in-depth focus on grape growing in China and the challenges that come with it.

Throughout 2020 we will be focusing on both ancient regions like Georgia and Armenia and emerging wine nations, from Israel to Romania, alongside topical issues like the rapid rise of CBD drinks and hard seltzers, the latest developments in the ‘low and no’ sphere, and the ongoing popularity of volcanic wines.

In December we will publish our luxury issue alongside our annual Spain report, which will be distributed at the annual Wines from Spain tasting.
