Former Diageo veteran joins Terlato Wine Group

US-based luxury wine producer Terlato Wine Group has appointed former Diageo executive Gregorio Gutierrez MacAllister as its new chief operating officer, as the family-owned company looks to accelerate its next phase of growth.

Gutierrez will take up the role on 13 July, overseeing the group’s commercial and operational businesses, including its relationships with distributors and suppliers.

He joins Terlato after an 18-year career at drinks giant Diageo, where he held senior leadership positions across North America, Latin America and Europe. Before that, he worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and led several family-owned businesses.

Chief executive Bill Terlato said Gutierrez brought “global experience, operational excellence, strategic thinking and people leadership” to the fourth-generation family business.

Terlato added that the appointment would help strengthen the company’s long-term growth strategy while reinforcing the family business’s focus on quality, partnerships and execution.

Gutierrez said he was “honoured” to join one of the wine industry’s best-known family-owned companies.

“The Terlato family has built an extraordinary portfolio of brands, wineries, partnerships, and capabilities over several decades,” he said.
