Almaviva names new MD

Chilean wine estate Almaviva has hired former LVMH man, Manuel Louzada, as its new managing director.

He takes over from Felipe Larraín, who has managed the estate since 1999 but wishes to “devote more time to his family business,” Almaviva said in a statement.

Louzada has “extensive” international experience in the wine world having previously worked for LVMH’s wine and spirits division for 18 years.

He was estate manager, winemaker and marketing manager at estates such as Chandon in Argentina and Numanthia in Spain.

Most recently he was CEO of Tenute del Mundo Wine Group, managing estates in Argentina, Spain and Tuscany.
