Moët & Chandon to host second Global Moët Party

Moët & Chandon will be hosting its second Global Moët Party Day on 17 June, which this year will highlight its Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial – a Champagne designed to be poured over ice.

More than 70 countries will be leading events that will celebrate the house’s history of savoir-faire and savoir-fête, with 40 events planned in the UK, from London to Glasgow. The inaugural Moët Party Day took place on 11 June last year, with this year’s celebrations set to highlight the house’s Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial.

Ice Impérial was created by Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez in 2011 to provide a Champagne that retains its balance even when poured over ice. He recommends serving the cuvée in a large glass over three “sizeable” ice cubes.

“I select wines specifically for what they bring to the party,” he says. “Around 20-30% of the assemblage is of selected reserve wines to round out the blend by enhancing its intensity, richness and consistency. But it is the dominance of Pinot Noir and Meunier in the blend that really gives the Champagne a richness that the presence of ice actually amplifies.”

Bars and restaurants around the UK will stage Moët Ice Impérial Party Day celebrations, including The Social in Glasgow, Manchester’s Australasia Bar and the Edgbaston in Birmingham. In London Bluebird in Chelsea will host the first ever Moët Ice Truck, while Sky Garden, Galvin HOP, Edward Lounge Bar at Radisson Blu Edwardian and Madison also be taking part in the celebrations.
