Metal band Deftones release signature beer

US metal band Deftones have teamed up with San Diego’s Belching Beaver Brewery to launch a signature IPA.

The IPA will be named “Phantom Bride” after a track on the band’s Gore album, released earlier this year.

The “hoppy West Coast style beer” has been brewed with Mosaic, Amarillo, Simcoe and Citra hops, with the combination handpicked by Deftones frontman Chino Moreno.

“Really excited to see our Phantom Bride IPA hit the shelves,” said Moreno.

“As a huge beer connoisseur it was a privilege collaborating with Belching Beaver on the flavour profiles and coming out with a beer that I would put right up with any of my favourites. Good stuff!”

The band follows in the footsteps of numerous rock and heavy metal acts to have dipped a toe into the world of wine, beer and spirits, including Iron Maiden, New Order and Motorhead.

Formed in 1988 out of Sacramento, Californina, the band have released eight studio albums, including White Pony, Around the Fur and Adrenaline.

Phantom Bride IPA will be officially released on 3 October, first in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Hawaii and California, and online.
