Emiliana named ‘Winery of the Year’

Green focused Chilean estate Emiliana has been named Winery of the Year by Wines of Chile at this year’s Wines of Chile Awards.

Mario Pablo Silva, president of Wines of Chile, announced the news this week, with Emiliana being chosen from over 90 member wineries.

“Since its foundation, Emiliana has been a pioneer in this country and has made tremendous contributions to sustainability and the production of wine made with organic grapes.

“It’s commitment and passion have made it an example to follow, in Chile and around the world,” he said.

Emiliana is currently the world’s largest organic winery, with over 800 hectares of certified organic vineyards across Chile. This year the estate produced 580,000 cases of organic wines, which it exported to over 60 countries.

Emiliana’s general manager, Cristián Rodriguez, spoke of his delight at receiving the award. “We are very happy to receive this award, which confirms that it is possible to produce high quality wines using organic and biodynamic agriculture,” he said.

Among the judging criteria for the award is activity in export markets, participation in industry activities, and standing out from the crowd in a meaningful way. Last year the award was won by the VSPT Wine Group.
