Police have deemed it “one of the most expensive car crashes in China’s history,” as a drunk driver lost control and crashed his Koenigsegg Agera R.

CCTV cameras recorded the moment a Koenigsegg Agera R span out of control and crashed into a pavement barrier in the Yubei District of Chongqing.

It narrowly missed hitting oncoming vehicles, reported the People’s Daily Online.

The 26-year-old driver, a Mr Lui, was questioned by police and arrested for driving under the influence.

Worth US$4m, (£2.7m) the Swedish ‘supercar’ is one of only six ever made and can go from 0 to 62 in 2.8 seconds and runs on biofuel.

It was also reported to belong to a local collector who also owns a Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder.

And to add insult to injury, the driver was also found not to have any insurance and his little indiscretion comes at a time when the ruling Communist Party is cracking down on drink driving.
