Diner leaves waitress heartwarming tip

A mystery diner tipped a waitress more than what his entire meal was worth as part of a touching annual gesture in memory of his late brother.

The waitress, of Mac’s Grub Shak Pizza and Grill in Tennessee, was stunned to receive a $36 tip for a meal that cost $29.50, along with a message scrawled on the back of the bill.

She posted a photo of the message online.

It read: “Today is my brothers b-day. He would have been 36 today. Every year I go eat his favourite meal (hot dogs) and tip the waitress his age. Happy b-day Wes.”

While the man’s identity remains unknown, it seems likely he will re-emerge at a hot dog restaurant next year to repeat the gesture.

Last year a couple dining at a restaurant in Florida left one lucky waiter a $1,500 to fix his car and bought a $240 round of beers for its entire staff in a similar case of goodwill tipping.

The unidentified couple were reported to have been former restaurant workers.
