Waitrose targets sub £5 wine in own-label relaunch
Waitrose has introduced an alcoholic ginger beer and unveiled a sub £5 wine range as part of an own-label drinks relaunch.

As many as 77 alcoholic drinks have been given a new look, which include nine new own-label wines under £5, and a sparkling wine under £6.
“Our commitment to offering the best value for money means that this is the first time we have launched a range of Waitrose own label wines for under £5,” said Pierpaolo Petrassi MW, head of wines, beers and spirits at the grocer.
“We have given these wines every bit of TLC that we would give a bottle of Waitrose Vintage Champagne,” he added.
As well as the additional wines, there is now an alcoholic ginger beer and a new range of beers, ciders and spirits including a German Pilsner, blonde Belgian beer, vodka, Scotch whisky, rum and brandy.

Why is that any wine company that Simon Mcmurtie touches ends up a total loss to the paying customer … first Waitrose ….. then Averys then Laithwaite …. the wine ordered is promised emailed to confirm that it will arrive in the vineyards wooden crate and then turns up in a rubbish brown card board box which disintergrates in ant cellar or door step in the rain . Losing all integrity in the wines value and curb appeal…anyone else feel totally defrauded by any of this kind of behaviour from their wine merchant … we all better stand up for our rights and say enough is enough!
