Battersea gets new oyster bar

Bennett Oyster Bar & Brasserie opens in Battersea Square, London, tomorrow.

The brainchild of Ray Duhaney, formerly of the Cheyne Walk Brasserie and Bumpkin, the 90-seater brasserie will include a marble top oyster bar selling a selection of crustacea, such as native oysters from Scotland and rock oysters from Ireland, Dorset and Jersey.

Executive chef Sebastian Ryder, who recently launched the menus at Peyton & Byrne, will serve a mixture of traditional British favourites and classic French dishes, with the focus on seasonal ingredients from around the British Isles.

Wines come courtesy of Bibendum, with many bins available to try on Enomatic, while mixologist Andres Masso will be responsible for cocktails.

In addition, an on-site store will sell a selection of fine wines, organic fruit and vegetables, freshly baked breads, English cheeses and freshly cut flowers.

Bennett also features a botanical garden and patio area looking out onto Battersea Square.

The project is backed by Freddie Achom, the man behind Jalouse members’ club in Mayfair.
