Carson to chair WSTA

Chris Carson will replace Barry Sutton as the next Chair of the Wine & Spirit Trade Association.  The nomination is to be ratified at the next WSTA AGM to be held in April 2006.

The Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) is to be headed up by a new chairman
in the shape of former Constellation Europe CEO, Christopher Carson. He will replace Barry Sutton, who has held the post on an interim basis during recent organisational changes.

Sutton commented, “We have had a very busy year in 2005. We have overhauled the association’s structure, operations and governance in line with the recommendations of the Way Forward Group. The appointment of a trade leader such as Chris to the position of Chair reflects our new approach. Our aim is to ensure that the association provides a strong voice for the wine and spirit trade.”

The nomination will be ratified at the next WSTA AGM, which will be held in April 2006. Carson is said to be delighted with his new role. “I welcome the opportunity to give continued support to the association and industry through these challenging times,” he commented.

The association also recently appointed Jeremy Beadles as the new chief executive.
