Sotheby’s to hold auction dedicated to Château Haut-Brion
Sotheby’s is to host an ex-cellar auction of wines from Château Haut-Brion this autumn, a sale of over 675 lots, which will include First Growth barrels along with 90 years-worth of rare vintages.

The auction house has partnered with Domaine Clarence Dillon to celebrate the 90 years of stewardship by the Dillon family, who acquired the Bordeaux estate in 1935.
Serena Sutcliffe MW, the honorary chairman of Sotheby’s Wine called it “paradise found” for those who worship both Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion Blanc, and pointed to the “impeccable château provenance”.
Taking place in Paris on 1 Ocotber, the sale will comprise 676 lots with a total combined estimate of €2.5 – 3.5 million. All wines from the estate are represented, including Haut-Brion Rouge and Blanc, Le Bahans Haut-Brion, Le Clarence de Haut-Brion, Les Plantiers de Haut-Brion, and La Clarté de Haut-Brion.
A series of bespoke experiences created for this anniversary will be paired with exceptionally rare vintages from Domaine Clarence Dillon. Another key highlight is a barrel of the 2025 vintage, alongside a unique, limited-edition 2025 case offered by Primum Familiae Vini.

Prince Robert of Luxembourg, chairman and CEO of Domaine Clarence Dillon, said that the exceptional auction “celebrates a journey that began in 1935 with my great-grandfather Clarence Dillon’s acquisition of the estate”, and brought together not only extraordinary wines across nearly a century of vintages, but also unique experiences and moments of history never before offered.
“As custodians of this legacy, our responsibility has always been not only to honour the past, but also to create new chapters that will shape the future of Château Haut-Brion,” he said. “Celebrating Our 10th Decade of Family Stewardship represents both a tribute to our history and an expression of our vision for the future.”
Nick Pegna, global head of wine and spirits at Sotheby’s said the sale represented “one of the most compelling opportunities we have ever brought to market”.
“The depth of vintages, pristine condition, and breadth of formats are exceptional, but what truly sets this auction apart is its sense of occasion – from the rare experiences on offer to the historic inclusion of a First Growth barrel,” he said. “This celebration of Château Haut-Brion is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Dillon family.”
