Dan Cox announces closure of Michelin-starred Crocadon restaurant

Chef Dan Cox has announced that his Michelin-starred restaurant, Crocadon, located in St Mellion, Cornwall, is to close after three years of operation, as he looks to new pastures.

Cox, a former executive chef at Fera at Claridge’s and alumnus of Simon Rogan’s restaurant group, took on Crocadon Farm in 2017 before opening the restaurant in 2023.

In an email to subscribers, Cox said the decision to close Crocadon would allow him to pursue new collaborations and creative projects.

He said: “Over the past eight years we’ve worked hard to build something that benefits the land, our team and the people who dine here.”

Looking back

He continued: “I’m especially grateful to the team, whose commitment, passion and creativity made Crocadon what it was.

“As one season ends, another begins – and while it’s bittersweet to close Crocadon, I’m excited for what comes next: new ideas, collaborations and the chance to share everything we’ve learned.”

Cox, who won the Roux Scholarship in 2008, described Crocadon as being built on “learning through doing”.

He added: “We’ve made mistakes, we’ve learned and we’ve grown. The restaurant was one part of a bigger story – about what food can be when you care for the soil, the animals and the people equally.”

Shining the torch for sustainability

Since launching Crocadon, Cox has become a leading advocate for regenerative agriculture and organic farming.

“Crocadon has always been about learning through doing,” he added. “We’ve made mistakes, we’ve learned, and we’ve grown. The restaurant was one part of a bigger story – about what food can be when you care for the soil, the animals, and the people equally.”
