Aldi booze prices slashed ahead of Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend

Discount supermarket Aldi has slashed the prices of some of its best-selling booze ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, including customer favourite Prosecco and Champagne.

Brands have certainly been jockeying for position when it comes to making their mark for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and the general consensus seems to be that alcohol is expected to play a major part in the Great British public’s celebrations this weekend.

Aldi is no exception, and appears to be marking the Jubilee long bank holiday weekend with a series of offers on its alcohol products.

Aldi’s Winemaster’s Lot Barbaresco is currently reduced from £17.99 to £11.99, while if you want to keep it English for the Queen’s celebrations, then their Specially Selected English Red is down to £7.99 from £9.99.

Also from today, Aldi’s Nicolas De Montbart Champagne will be reduced from £12.99 to £9.99, while the brand’s Costellore Prosecco Spumante was reduced to under £5, though it appears to no longer be available online.

Meanwhile, wine retailer Majestic is anticipating record sales of sparkling wine over the Jubilee weekend, with English sparkling set to lead the way.

110,000 bottles of sparkling wine are expected to be sold over the long weekend. That’s 21% (23,000 bottles) more than for Prince William and Kate’s Royal Wedding in 2011, and 39% more than Prince Harry and Meghan’s in 2018.
