Languedoc’s Domaine Jones joins Gonzalez Byass

Katie Jones, winemaker and owner of the Domaine Jones on the Languedoc-Roussillon border has appointed Gonzalez Byass UK as distributor, with the aim of focussing on the independent and on trade sectors.

“Since starting Domaine Jones with my husband Jean-Marc in 2009, the UK has been our largest market,” said Katie.

“Until now I have been handling sales myself, but as demand grows, I have realised that I could do with some help. We have many loyal friends and followers in the UK, and I am delighted that the dedicated team at GBUK will work with us to move to the next level and reach even more consumers.

“Being family owned and with a manageable portfolio of great estates, we believe Gonzalez Byass is a good fit for us, and trust the team to be our ambassadors in the UK. I look forward to having a bit more time to visit customers over the coming months.”

Following Domaine Jones’ first vintage in 2009, Katie has earned a reputation for her award-winning Fitou and is known for her passion to acquire ancient vineyards and vinify tiny parcels of often lesser-known varietals such as Macabeu and Carignan Gris.

Jones moved from Leicestershire to the Languedoc 20 years ago and set up Domaine Jones. All the Domaine Jones wines are produced from hand-picked grapes grown on 12 hectares of old vines on steep mountain slopes in Tuchan and Maury.

The wines will be available via Gonzalez Byass UK from July 2018.
