According to local media, the 160,000-square-foot beer distribution warehouse in Blackshear went up in flames on Monday (8 January) morning.

Firefighters from Pierce and Ware counties helped to tackle the blaze which is thought to have started at around 8:15am local time at the building owned by Southern Eagle Distributing.

Blackshear police chief Chris Wright told the media that there were no reports of any injuries and that everyone working inside the facility was accounted for.

During the operation, part of the building had to be pulled down so that fire crews “could get at the fire,” Wright said.

Speaking to jacksonville.com, Wright continued that the results of a preliminary investigation showed that the fire may have resulted from “a construction accident involving a torch”.

He added that there was “an unknown loss of inventory as a result of the blaze”.

Southern Eagle Distributing also operates in Florida and South Carolina and has four other warehouses in George, located in Brunswick, Savannah, Vidalia and Fitzgerald.
