Vinventions rebrands as it celebrates strong growth

Closures company Vinventions, is relaunching it its Green Line range as it celebrates strong growth of the plant-based closure brand.

The closures specialist launched the range last year, which comprises its flagship Reserva range, Select Green, Classic Green, Smart Green and sparkling closure Zest! Premium, but is relaunching the range with a new Nomacorc logo and branding to highlight its plant-based credentials.

The  company also reported strong sales in its mid-year 2017 results, with its sugarcane-derived plant-based closure PlantCorcs set to add more than 800 million units in sales worldwide through the innovative Nomacorc Green Line.

This made the PlantCorc Normacorc line the fastest-growing wine closure category on the market, the company claimed, in an industry that is rapidly evolving. Growth was particularly seen in the Reserva and Select Green lines, which are designed to be used with wines intended for ageing, and the premium sparkling wine closure, Zest!, it said.

As a result of the growth, the category is expected to reach around 1 billion closures for 2017, and more than 2 billion by the end of 2018, it added.

“The extraordinary innovation work of Vinventions has created an entirely new wine closure category: PlantCorc,” Dr. Heino Freudenberg, president and CEO of Vinventions said. “PlantCorc closures currently outgrow all other wine closure categories – including screwcaps and cork-based closures – in terms of absolute growth in units. The success of the category is broadly based in both popular and premium wines, and increasingly experiencing strong growth with luxury wines in Burgundy, Alsace, Provence, Rhône Valley, Piemonte, Tuscany, Rioja, and Galicia as well as Napa and Oregon.”

The company was formed in 2015 to unite five brands in each of the major closure category, including Nomacorc PlantCorcs™, Ohlinger natural Corks, Vintop screwcaps, Syntek synthetic corks and glass closure brand Vinolok, along with its oenological services and analyzers business,  Wine Quality Solutions and marketing services and wine consumer insights, Wine Marketing Solutions.

Earlier this year, Vinventions’ president & CEO Dr. Heino Freudenberg, told db that Vinventions was expanding the supply of its plant-based synthetic stoppers from Nomacorc, as well as working on a number of developments in other wine closure, including focusing on enhancing the screwcap closure to make them more robust and furthering the quality of its “high-end” natural cork business.
