In a statement Heineken said it paid €25.56 for each of the 4,673,941 shares, giving it a majority holding of 53.4%.

The global beer producer also revealed it was intending to make a takeover offer to all remaining shareholders within the next three business days.

The deal was first agreed in April, and has been completed following the “fulfilment of all conditions… including the receipt of the necessary merger control approvals,” Heineken said.

The Pivovarna Laško Group produces beer, spirits, mineral water, and other non-alcoholic beverages, as well as having a newspaper and publishing interest.

The Laško Brewery is reportedly the largest in Slovenia.
