Princess Diana’s niece launches luxury rosé

Model and socialite Lady Eliza Spencer has released Lala V Côtes de Provence Rosé, available exclusively through high-end Knightsbridge retailer Hackstons.

Lady Eliza Spencer, the daughter of ninth Earl, Charles Spencer, and the niece of Diana, Princess of Wales, is making moves in the wine world with the launch of Lala V Rosé.

Eliza, who is also the first cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, has already carved out a successful career in modelling, having walked for the likes of Versace, Armani, Roberto Cavalli, and Michael Kors, as well as having appeared in editorial photo shoots for fashion bible Vogue.

According to the team behind Lala V Rosé, the Côtes de Provence expression “embodies sophistication, grace and modern luxury” and it is being marketed as “the perfect rosé for both intimate occasions and grand celebrations.”

Exclusive rights

Luxury drinks retailer Hackstons, located in London’s well-heeled Knightsbridge, has exclusive retail rights to the wine. Lala V Côtes de Provence Rosé will join a portfolio of fine wine, whisky and sprits in Hackstons’ flagship bricks-and-mortar store, as well as online.

“I’m so excited to see Lala V stocked exclusively at Hackstons. It means so much to partner with a destination that shares our passion for quality, craftsmanship and creating memorable experiences. I can’t wait for people to discover and enjoy Lala V there,” said Lady Spencer, who was raised in Cape Town, South Africa and moved to the UK in 2021.

Hackstons founder Alphie Valentine said: “Lady Eliza has created a truly exceptional rosé that perfectly reflects the elegance and quality both our brands represent. We’re delighted to exclusively launch Lala V at Hackstons and look forward to introducing our customers to a wine that celebrates the very best of Provence, craftsmanship and modern luxury.”

What’s in a name?

The wine’s name – Lala V – is derived from ‘Lala’, Lady Eliza’s childhood nickname, and ‘Vie’, the French word for ‘life’.

Meanwhile, the liquid inside the bottle is described as having “succulent aromas of ripe peach and subtle citrus notes. Smooth, fresh and beautifully balanced on the palate, it finishes with a refined softness that lingers elegantly.”

Priced at £27, Lala V sits at the top end of the rosé market, more expensive than Whispering Angel and Château Miraval (both around £18-£23) and pricier than Minuty (£15-£25), but less than ultra-premium pink expressions Garrus (£100) and Clos du Temple (£170).

Freebie controversy

Lady Eliza Spencer and her identical twin sister Lady Amelia Spencer, both aged 33, drew criticism earlier this year for allegedly asking a local hairstylist to work for them for free during Cannes Film Festival.

The stylist publicly refused, telling The Daily Mail he was “bewildered” by the request given their aristocratic background and successful modelling careers.

Calling the launch of Lala V the start of “a beautiful new chapter”, Lady Eliza posted on Instagram: “A moment we are incredibly proud of. Here’s to living life beautifully.”
