Jeremy Clarkson issues warning at his pub during heatwave

Jeremy Clarkson has warned patrons of his Oxfordshire pub The Farmer’s Dog that it has been forced to close part of its services due to extreme temperatures during this week’s heatwave.

Jeremy Clarkson has warned patrons of his Oxfordshire pub The Farmer’s Dog that it has been forced to close part of its services due to extreme temperatures during this week’s heatwave.

The warning, which was issued by the Clarkson’s Farm star on social media, lands amid Clarkson’s growing presence in the drinks and hospitality world, with his pub drawing in crowds thanks to the wider Diddly Squat brand’s popularity since the series aired.

‘Challenging’

Taking to X on the Farmer’s Dog Pub handle, Clarkson shared the news that the pub’s butcher’s counter will be closed “potentially for the remainder of the week”.

The account stated that “it turns out that when Britain reaches temperatures normally associated with southern Spain, certain things stop working properly”.

Revealing the reasons why, Clarkson explained: “The combination of extreme heat, refrigeration units and a giant tent has proved challenging. We’re working on solutions and will reopen as soon as it’s sensible to do so.”

He added: “Don’t worry, our famous sausage rolls will still be available from the garden bars and pub bar.”

‘Very little shade on site’

The statement also added the suggestion that people think of their pets in the extreme heat and perhaps consider that the pub is not the best environment for them.

The statement added: “Finally, a word on dogs. We love them. The clue is in the name. Normally they’re always welcome. But with very little shade on site and temperatures nudging towards 35°C and beyond, today might be a good day for them to stay somewhere cool and comfortable instead. Thank you for your understanding.”

It is not only pubs that have had to navigate the heat in Britain, this week hundreds of schools have also been forced to close across the country following rare red weather warnings. Added to this, the conditions have also impacted transport networks up and down the UK.
