Nyetimber has appointed Steven Edwards as Executive Chef, as the estate prepares to launch a series of dining experiences later this year.
The move marks a new phase for the producer’s on-site hospitality, with tickets now released for its first events this summer.
Estate dining experiences launch
The announcement coincides with the release of tickets for the ‘1086 by Nyetimber Paired Dining Experiences’. These events will showcase the producer’s prestige cuvée, 1086 by Nyetimber, alongside a four-course seasonal menu created by Edwards.
Priced at £195 per person, the experiences will run from 6:30pm to 10pm on the following dates:
- Thursday 14th May
- Friday 15th May
- Friday 12th June
- Saturday 13th June
Further events are planned for late summer, autumn and winter.
Culinary direction
Edwards, winner of MasterChef: The Professionals and chef behind etch., will oversee the estate’s culinary direction. His remit includes developing menus designed to complement Nyetimber’s sparkling wines.
Joining him as head chef is Joe Pinard, who previously worked with Edwards for three years as Sous Chef at etch. Pinard also brings experience from The Small Holding, a Michelin Green Star restaurant known for its farm-driven approach.
Together, the pair will focus on seasonal British produce, aiming to align the food offering closely with the estate’s wines.
Industry reaction
Edwards said: “Nyetimber is one of the most exciting names in English wine, and to be part of its continued evolution is a real privilege. Our aim is to create a food offering that not only reflects the quality of the wines and the brand, but also enhances the overall experience for guests visiting the Estate.”
Pinard added: “Having worked alongside Steven for several years, it’s incredibly exciting to be joining him again in a new environment. Nyetimber offers a unique platform to showcase incredible produce and create dishes that work in harmony with world-class sparkling wine.”
Owner and CEO Eric Heerema commented: “At Nyetimber we prioritise quality above all else, and part of that is offering the best possible food pairings for our award-winning sparkling wines. Steven has been a friend of the brand for years and shares our values, so we know he will be able to create fantastic dishes and pairing experiences for our valued guests at the Estate.”
The appointment underlines Nyetimber’s continued investment in its hospitality offering, with a focus on integrating food and wine at the estate.
