Kentucky retailer Cox’s Spirit Shoppe & Evergreen Liquors opens 26th store
Louisville-based drinks retailer Cox’s Spirit Shoppe & Evergreen Liquors has opened its 26th location in Kentucky. The new outlet arrives as the US spirits category continues to command the largest share of beverage alcohol sales.

Cox’s Spirit Shoppe & Evergreen Liquors, a Louisville-owned beer, wine, liquor and tobacco retailer, opened its 26th Kentucky location on 23 March.
The new 6,100 square foot store stands at 294 Market Place Drive in Louisville and forms part of a steady programme of growth across the state over the past five years.
“We’re proud to open our 26th location and our third in Bullitt County, an area where we continue to see strong growth,” said CEO Mike Fisk. “With a growing population and successful stores in Shepherdsville and Okolona, this new location fills an important gap in the area. We’re excited to serve this community and continue exploring opportunities to expand across Kentucky.”
As per company figures, five new outlets have been launched during the past five years as the retailer extends its presence across the region.
A full-service retail format
The latest store follows the established Cox’s Spirit Shoppe format, offering a broad range of beverage alcohol alongside tobacco and cigars.

According to the retailer, the shop carries more than 250 wines and over 500 spirits. A walk-in cooler contains more than 500 beers and hard seltzers. The site also includes a cigar humidor and tobacco products, as well as a drive-through facility designed for quicker collection.
Customers can browse selections spanning local Kentucky products alongside national and international brands.
Spirits remain the dominant category
The expansion arrives during a period of adjustment for the wider US drinks market. As reported by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States and published by the drinks business, spirits maintained the leading share of beverage alcohol in 2025 at 42.4% of the market.
According to the trade body, spirits sales reached US$36.4 billion in 2025, a fall of 2.2% in revenue from the previous year even as volumes increased by 1.9% to 318.1 million nine-litre cases. The figures suggest that drinkers continue to buy spirits while showing greater price sensitivity.
Ready-to-drink cocktails proved the most dynamic segment of the category. As reported by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, spirits-based RTDs achieved sales of US$3.8 billion in 2025, an increase of 16.4%.
“Consumers are showing a strong preference for spirits ready-to-drink cocktails because they’re made with real spirits, offer great convenience and flavour, and include lower-alcohol options,” said Chris Swonger, president and CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.
