Find the cheapest drinks in Wetherspoons with this new booze map
An interactive booze map that reveals where to find the cheapest drinks in Wetherspoons pubs has been created.
The map, which has been created from a study that was carried out by collecting over 300,000 prices from every Wetherspoons in the UK, means people can select their go-to order from the search bar and see how much it would cost you in different Wetherspoons across the country.
The findings from the study show that the cost of a pint of Carling varies by 89%, with prices ranging from £2.29 to £5.99. The biggest price variation discovered was for a bottle of Teresa Rizzi Prosecco, with a 161% difference between the cheapest (£11.56) and most expensive (£35.15).
In London, pubgoers can be sipping a pint of Carling in a Wetherspoons for £5.29, and be two miles away from a pint that’s 46% cheaper at £2.88 (The Ice Wharf, Camden and The Coronet, Holloway).
Meanwhile, in The Angel, Basingstoke a single Gordon’s gin will set drinkers back £4.40, but if they were to walk 10 minutes down the road to The Maidenhead Inn, it would cost them less than half that at £2.06.
According to the results, the cheapest Wetherspoons pub venues on average are The David Macbeth Moir in East Lothian and The Bourtree in Hawick. The most expensive were revealed to be The Atrium and the NEC Wetherspoons in Birmingham, followed by The Moon Under Water in Westminster. All of the findings, notably, excluded airport prices.
Veronica Fletcher of Pantry & Larder, which conducted the research and created the map said: “Drink prices vary significantly across the UK. And it’s not just as simple as London being more expensive than the rest of the UK. For example, a pint of Carling at my local in Southampton costs £3.11. Less than three miles away, the same drink is 13% cheaper. Interestingly, certain drinks such as a bottle of Budweiser or Corona are notably cheaper in Scotland.”
