The Distilled Spirits Council of the US (Discus) is inviting industry professionals to attend a free American whiskey masterclass in Leeds, UK.

Discus heads to Leeds for free American whiskey masterclass

Bartenders, distributors and retailers are invited to attend a two-hour masterclass on Monday 24 April, from 3pm to 5pm, at The Lost & Found Leeds Club, UK.

The mixology masterclass will be brought to you by the Distilled Spirits Council of the US (Discus) as part of the association’s Cheers! Spirits from the USA campaign – an initiative that aims to share knowledge and ideas.

From 3pm-4pm, attendees will be guided through a tasting of four key American whiskey subcategories: Bourbon, American single malt, American rye whiskey, and Tennessee whiskey.

This will be followed by a mixology masterclass showcasing the four subcategories in action.

The session will be hosted by freelance drinks writer, educator and presenter Kristiane Sherry together with Melita Kiely, editor of The Spirits Business and chair of The Global Spirits Masters Competitions.

Kiely said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for bartenders, distributors and retailers in and around the Leeds area to join us for what is sure to be a brilliant afternoon of American whiskey knowledge.

“There will be a number of brands available to sample that are seeking UK distribution, meaning they are not yet widely available in the UK – making this masterclass even more unmissable.”

Those eager to attend the masterclass should register their interest.
