Voyager Estate sits in the southern end of the Margaret River region, in Stevens Valley.

The family-owned estate celebrates its 45th anniversary this year, having been first planted in 1978.

It was one of the first estates in Margaret River, founded by the late Michael Wright, bought the vineyard in 1991. His daughter Alexandra Burt took over management in 2005 and becoming sole proprietor in 2018.

Each of the producer’s wines are estate grown and made. Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are the key focus, with plantings of Shiraz, Chenin Blanc and Semillon organised by parcel and blend potential.

Voyager Estate began experimenting with organic viticulture on heritage Cabernet Sauvignon plantings in 2004. After a three-year certification process which began in 2017, a number of Voyager wines were certified in 2020, with the rest to follow in 2023.

Burt said new partnership would assist Voyager Estate in “deepening our ties with the UK trade and consumers to shine a light on the incredible winemaking that is possible in Margaret River”.

Voyager Estate will sit alongside Pol Roger Portfolio’s other family-owned producers, joining Champagne Pol Roger, Maison Joseph Drouhin, Cornell Vineyards, Bryant Estate, Robert Sinskey Vineyards, Staglin Family Vineyard, Abreu, Gallica, Kinsman Eades, TOR, Casanova di Neri, Dal Forno Romano, Domaine Vacheron and Bodegas Artadi, as well as Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt and Leiper’s Fork Distillery.

James Simpson MW, managing director of Pol Roger Portfolio, commented: “Having visited the Estate last year, we are tremendously excited to be bringing this pioneering and historic producer into the fold. I think it is fair to say that their commitment to the region is unparalleled. The dedication and devotion to the fruit is evident in their varietal experimentation, Cabernet and Chardonnay ambition, quest for organic certification, and love for the land. They have been making wines in the area for decades now and know the soil better than anyone. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the UK thinks about these incredible wines.”

The wines will be available from spring 2023.
