db recommends: Taste Spain – Wines from Spain Annual Tasting

Food and Wines from Spain will be hosting a number of events over the coming weeks, including one in London, one in Leeds, and several online webinars and roundtables.

Following on from the success of last year’s “buzzing” annual Wines from Spain tasting, this year’s tastings, the 36th Taste Spain, promise to offer insight into a plethora of exciting new releases onto the UK market from across Spain’s 70 DOs.

At the London tasting on 28 February in Lindley Hall, 53 leading Spanish wine exporters and importers will be showcasing their portfolios, offering attendees the opportunity to taste wines from more than 250 bodegas across Spain. At 11am, Peter McCombie MW will present a masterclass on ‘The Historical Garnachas Project’, and at 12.30pm Melissa Cole will be offering an insight into Spanish beer in association with Cerveceros de España.

For the Leeds tasting, held at Ibérica Restaurant on 13 March, at 12pm Sarah Jane Evans MW will present a masterclass on how classic Spanish regions have been able to reinvent themselves. At 2pm, The Yorkshire Post wine writer Christine Austin will be speaking about six indigenous Spanish grape varieties that are changing winemaking.
