Trullo opens wine bar next door
Islington’s Trullo has opened a wine bar next door on St. Paul’s Road.

The original Highbury Corner site opened in 2010 and has since gone on to garner praise for simple, but well-executed dishes that allow seasonal produce to shine.
Jay Rayner chose the restaurant as the site of his first post-lockdown meal in July 2020. At the time, he wrote in The Observer: “I first visited Trullo almost exactly a decade ago, and raved in my review about a boisterous dish of buttercup-yellow pasta with nutty brown shrimps, shredded courgettes, chilli and lemon, and here it is back in front of me. It’s just as fabulous as it was back then.”
However, despite the restaurant’s popularity, it appears that the adjacent wine bar opened in mid-December last year without any particular pomp or ceremony.
Hot Dinners reported that the wine bar has token over the space that used to be Trullo’s shop, and with just one table (plus counter and window seating) it has a capacity of just over a dozen.
The restaurant news outlet also stated that prices of the Italian-focused list started at £6 for a glass and £18 for a bottle, and that there were also a number of bar snacks, including chicken liver crostini, focaccia with olive oil, and pig’s ear fritti. London Eater added that there are also cocktails including a vermouth spritz, and the viral sensation that is the Negroni Sbagliato.
It is currently open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
