Milano Wine Week wraps up successfully in Asia

The international masterclass programme for Milano Wine Week (11-12 October) ended with great success across Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Tokyo.

Returning for its 5th edition this year, Milano Wine Week continued to offer an innovative experience of the best wines from various Italian regions with across the city of Milan, online on the MWW digital platform and to serve as a wine hub for over a week, with wine lovers, enthusiasts, opinion leaders and industry operators from all over the world.

In Asia, wine professionals from Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Tokyo markets were involved in the remote live tasting and devoted to some of the best Italian labels.

On the first day, the event was kicked off by “A Look To The East: Tasting Of Valdo Best Sellers In Asia” Gianfranco Zanon, Valdo Chief Winemaker, joinned Stefano La Torre, Area Manager Asia Pacific-africa & Middle East of Valdo to drive a tasting through quality Prosecco productions of one of the largest and most historic winery in Valdobbiadene.

Followed by “Vin Santo Del Chianti D.O.C.: A Golden Coffer Of Light And History” guided by Chianti Wine Ambassador Luca Alves, the Masterclass walked through a tasting of seven Vin Santos from different sub-regions of production that are currently part of the Chianti appellation.

The next day, the audience followed wine speakers Cristina Mercuri and Filippo Bartolotta to explore a journey on the Masottina collections, climbing up the qualitative pyramid of Prosecco wines. Through the format of blind tasting, a sensory and exploratory analysis was given to understand the attitude of taste, in the comparison of the different terroir, starting with Prosecco
DOC Treviso and ending with R.D.O., the Rive di Ogliano.

Last but not least, in “Corvina Manifesto: Chiaretto Di Bardolino And Bardolino Cru”, wine speaker Angelo Peretti gave a thorough explanation on Corvinaass the most important native red grape variety in the Veronese territory which has been grown in Valpolicella and on the hills of Lake Garda for centuries. During the masterclass, the participants tasted different interpretations of Chiaretto di Bardolino (mountain, organic and amphora styles) and had a preview of the three “rediscovered” cru: La Rocca Bardolino, Montebaldo Bardolino and Sommacampagna Bardolino.
