Dokkaebier launches two new Asian-influenced beers

US-based craft brewery Dokkaebier, which creates brews inspired by Asian-influenced ingredients, has added two new limited-edition beers to its range.

The beers, which are a 5.5% ABV Rice Kolsch and a 4.9% ABV Dalgona Amber, have been released to reflect flavours that consumers can otherwise only find within Asian street food nostalgia and are set to showcase how the category can represent diversity in Eastern culinary style.

The beers, which were brewed under the leadership of head brewer Aaron Weshnak who is known for his previous work with the Russian River Brewing Company of Pliny the Elder fame, have been made specifically with Asian-inspired ingredients to show how beer can broaden our palates rather than limit it.

Dokkaebier founder and CEO Youngwon Lee said: “With our newest experimental brews, we wanted to take a playful approach to a main staple of Asian cuisine and a Korean street food favourite.”

According to Lee, “Rice Kolsch and Dalgona Amber are one-of-a-kind beers that should be unforgettable culinary adventures for craft beer fans”.

Dokkaebier’s Rice Kolsch is a “malty, traditional Kolsch with a slightly sweet flavour and a bright citrus character,” he explained, adding that Dalgona Amber is a “dry amber ale rich with the aromas of burnt caramel, sweet caramel and toasted bread”.

The experimental creations are made in small artisanal batches and are available only for a limited time, unless demand suggests the ought to be added to the core line up.

Dokkaebier’s most popular craft beers, since the brewery’s 2020 launch, include its Kimchi Sour, Milk Stout and Minari Witbier and, for the past two years, it has collected world beer accolades for its creations.

Lee explained: “We believe craft beer is an opportunity to be innovative and an area where we can bring more diversity, inclusion and belonging in representation and taste.”

The beers are available in 440ml cans via the brewery webshop and reputable bottle shops across the US.
