Waitrose adds award-winning Tequila Enemigo to spirits range
Award-winning Tequila Enemigo, previously poured in private members’ club Annabel’s, has joined the Waitrose range in time for Christmas.
Tequila Enemigo has previously been stocked at a selection of premium on-trade locations including private members’ club Annabel’s, Inception Group and Hakkasan Group.
John Vine, Waitrose’s spirits buyer, commented: “We are very excited to be adding the award winning Tequila Enemigo to our spirits range at Waitrose. The quality of the product speaks for itself, and we look forward to our customers enjoying these Tequilas this Christmas and beyond.”
The Tequila brand is expected to expand into a total of 28 states across the US by the end of 2021. Since its inception in 2017, Tequila Enemigo has been awarded 14 Double Gold Awards, 5 Tequila of the Year Awards, and 53 Total Awards.
Max Davies-Gilbert, Managing Director of Tequila Enemigo, said: “The listing with Waitrose comes off the back of a monumental year for Enemigo with the company gaining nationwide distribution in the US and sales increasing globally over 400% year on year. We’re delighted to be coming to the shelves of the UK’s leading supermarket and this reaffirms our commitment to the market we first launched in, back in 2017.”
Enemigo is made from 100% of the finest Blue Weber Agave, filtered mineral rich water of the Volcán de Tequila, and aged in custom, handmade new American Oak Barrels. Expressions include the Añejo Cristalino 89 and Extra Añejo 00.
Sustainable wine company When in Rome, also stocked in Waitrose stores across the UK, has become the first wine brand in the UK to add a climate footprint label onto its packaging. Read more on that here.
