President Biden and Anheuser-Busch offer free beer in vaccine surge push

The White House is teaming up with brewing giant Anheuser-Busch to offer free beer if the country reaches the Biden administration’s target – that 70% of American adults will have had at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot by 4 July.

The Biden administration is pushing to get sceptical Americans vaccinated, as slowing inoculation rates and concerns over future Covid spikes persist.

On Wednesday, the president unveiled a host of incentives for citizens to receive at least one vaccine shot by 4 July, a date his administration has earmarked to coincide with the Independence Day holiday.

According to government data cited by Reuters, some 63% of Americans have thus far received a Covid vaccine.

“That’s right: Get a shot, have a beer,” President Biden said. “We need everyone across the country to pull together to get us over the finish line.

“I promise you, we can do this.”

The partnership with Anheuser-Busch forms part of a new package of incentive offers that includes getting the vaccine for free if you go for a haircut at a Black-owned barbershop, free childcare from several major providers for parents or caregivers who are being vaccinated or recovering from the jab, extended Friday night hours at pharmacies across the country to help people get vaccinated, and more.

We previously reported the news that Sam Adams was offering free beer to Americans who got a Covid vaccine. The promotion ran from April until May, and you can read the full story here.
