Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail appoints new marketing VP

Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail has appointed Liya Zhang as its new vice president of marketing.

Zhang took over from Craig Johnson as vice president of marketing of the department, on 1 June 2021.

In her new role she will report to Mohit Lal, CEO of Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail and will be based in the Group’s London headquarters as of 2022. Zhang has also become a member of the Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail Management Committee.

Zhang said of her new position: “Taking on this new role a tremendously exciting prospect. With the company at the forefront of global travel retail, helping to grow its marketing capability and cement Pernod Ricard as a thought leader across the channel is a fantastic opportunity, and one I will be grabbing with both hands.”

In future, the group will continue to push category boundaries of what can be achieved within the channel and connect with travellers across the globe and at different stages of the travel trail.

Meanwhile, Craig Johnson will move to take up the role as vice president of brand management at Pernod Ricard USA and will be based in New York. Johnson added: “I am immensely happy for Liya. She is the right person to take the marketing division to the next level – her insights and experience will be invaluable. I wish her all the best and look forward to seeing the company continue to thrive within the channel.”

Restructured in 2017, Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail brings together the Asia Pacific, Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa travel retail arms into one global retail hub supported by market-based businesses.
