Manchester brewery creates beer for Andy Burnham
A craft brewery in Manchester has created a beer in honour of the city’s mayor, Andy Burnham.
The beer, which a New England IPA, is made by Seven Brothers in Salford and is called ‘King of the North’, is designed to raise money for northern hospitality businesses that have faced unprecedented challenges due to the government’s new tiered lockdown restrictions.
The Manchester mayor has been nicknamed the ‘King of the North’ across social media for his efforts towards government support for a tier 3 lockdown in Greater Manchester.
King of the North is available for £4 through the brewery’s web shop, and will also be sold in local establishments such as Manchester’s BrewDog bar.
Seven Brothers collaborated with TipJar, a non-profit tech company that has helped breweries raise money for struggling hospitality businesses. The app adds a QR code to every can which will take you to a platform where consumers are able to leave a tip to be distributed to selected individuals.
The beers will be ready for shipping from 18 November.
