London Restaurant Festival to go ahead this year

The London Restaurant Festival will return for the 12th year in October with a line-up of 60 culinary events, including a series of ‘at-home’ dining experiences.

Among the chefs taking part in this year’s festival are: Michel Roux Jr of Le Gavroche; Ollie Dabbous of Hide; Jackson Boxer of Orasay; Adam Handling of Adam Handling Chelsea; Mark Dobbie of Som Saa; Claude Bosi of Bibendum; Vivek Singh of The Cinnamon Club; Anna Haugh of Myrtle; and Atul Kotchar of Kanishka.

New for this year will be a series of at-home dining experiences where leading chefs join guests ‘live’ in their homes via video link to eat dinner together and answer questions about their careers.

Throughout the week, 20 leading London restaurants, including Sexy Fish, Gymkhana, The Ninth, Roka, Hide, Arros QD and Aquavit, will be offering LRF ‘feasts at-home’, which include messages from their executive chefs.

“Restaurant deliveries have grown in popularity. With LRF At-Home we intend to take the ‘restaurant at-home’ experience to the next level,” said festival director, Chris Wright.

A number of top chefs will also host ‘reunion dinners’ in private dining rooms, where the starters, mains and desserts are served in different high-end venues.

“The London Restaurant Festival was established to celebrate and reflect the vibrant London restaurant scene through exclusive experiences that inspire people to visit as many restaurants as possible throughout October,” said LRF founder, Simon Davis.

“Our irrepressible restaurant scene has been forced to adapt in 2020, but we must still celebrate it if we can. It needs all the support it can get.

“LRF will bring together the capital’s leading chefs and restaurants in a month of small-scale, socially-distanced events and experiences,” Davis added.

Throughout the week, 20 restaurants will be offering ticketholders a taste of their signature dishes via the Tasting Menus initiative, where diners can hop from venue to venue, enjoying a single dish at each. Among the sites taking part are Sabor, Aquavit, Barrafina and The Melusine.

As part of the event, OpenTable will be offering guests access to special menus at 250 London restaurants throughout October.
