Alain Ducasse’s HK restaurant shuts abruptly
The one Michelin-starred restaurant, ‘Rech’ by Alain Ducasse at the InterContinental Hong Kong abruptly announced its closure on 12 March. At least 20 staff members were laid off.
Opened in 2017, Rech was the second eatery opened by Alain Ducasse at the InterContinental Hong Kong hotel, and which specialised in imported seafood dishes.
In 2018, the hotel had announced a renovation and rebranding programme for its Regent Hong Kong hotel which was expected in 2022. Yet the hotel did not detail the planning of restaurant outlets thereafter.
The closure of Rech restaurant was announced abruptly and it was reported that 20 staff members of the restaurant were laid off with immediate effect.
In an official statement, the hotel said it, “will continue to work with Ducasse Paris on the development of a new restaurant concept to be launched following the hotel’s reopening in 2022”.
