Fera at Claridges to close at the end of the year

Michelin-starred restaurant Fera, housed within the historic Mayfair hotel Claridges, will close at the end of this year, four and a half years since it first opened.

A spokesperson for the Maybourne Hotel group, which owns Claridge’s, confirmed today that Fera would be closing, and would be serving its last dinner service on Monday, 31 December.

Fera at Claridges opened with Simon Rogan at the helm in 2014, and earned a Michelin star one year after opening.

Meaning ‘wild’ in Latin, the restaurant takes inspiration from nature and the cycle of the seasons, with many of the ingredients used in the kitchen hailing from Rogan’s farm in Cumbria.

Rogan left the restaurant in April of last year after three years, handing over the reins in the kitchen to the restaurant’s head chef Matt Starling.

Most recently, Rogan, who also owns the  two-Michelin-starred L’Enclume in the Lake District and Michelin-starred Roganic in London, confirmed he was to open two restaurants in Hong Kong in 2019: Aulis Hong Kong, his chef’s table and development kitchen; and sister venue Roganic Hong Kong, both in Causeway Bay.

Prior to Fera, Gordon Ramsay held the space at the hotel as Gordon Ramsay at Claridges. It held its last service on 30 June 2013 after 12 years at the five-star hotel.

Plans for the future of the space will be announced in the New Year, however rumours have already begun circulating that the team behind three-Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park in New York could take over the restaurant, as reported by Hot Dinners.

Daniel Humm, chef at Eleven Madison Park and NoMad, was in the frame to take over the space before Fera was confirmed in 2014.
