London pub to serve mince pie pale ale

Having caused controversy with its avocado stout last month, Shoreditch boozer the Long Arm Pub is gearing up for Christmas with a mince pie pale ale.

The Long Arm Pub in Shoreditch has developed a festive Mince Pie-PA

As reported by the Evening Standard, the Mince Pie-PA will be on the taps at the Long Arm from 10 December until stocks last, priced at £5.50 a pint.

The Indian Pale Ale has been infused with real mince pies and gingerbread for the full, winter warming, festive effect, and is said to boast notes of “cranberries, dates, cinnamon and caramel”.

The pub will also be getting revelers into the Christmas spirit with a nostalgic sounding Thierry’s Chocolate Orange Stout inspired by the classic stocking filler.

Both beers are brewed on-site at the pub, which is also home to a Tank Fresh brewery, meaning the festive tipples are served on draught straight from the tank.

This isn’t the first time the Long Arm has branched out into experimental beer flavours.

Last month it hit the headlines when it started serving a vegan avocado stout on tap at £5.50 a pint.

The millennial-friendly brew blended dark malts with “the creamy flavour of avocados”, which were added to the beer just after the secondary fermentation.
